and became the #1 content portal in the country.

Let me start with the basics. The title is misleading and this is definitely not good news practice. It’s not misleading because of the fact that we surpassed Twitter in traffic, but mainly because I didn’t create anything just by myself. Quick Tip: A trick on the headline might work once or twice, but if your actual content is not compelling, you will eventually turn the consumer against you.

In July 2013, Facebook changed their terms around content. FB Cover Photos can finally include any number of pictures and text and all previously limitations have been eliminated.  Here is a creative idea taking advantage of this opportunity.   I am using NBC News as an example.

If it’s not too late …to appeal to the younger Internet demographic.
No introduction needed really. I am constantly reading how TV is falling far behind in viewership and how the big Media are trying to win the Internet user back and eventually the advertisement money. One of my favorite subjects you’ve probably noticed is Morning ShowsHave they really been innovative the past years? Do you see a different product than what you watched 10 years ago? Are there small steps that can be taken to make a difference?

One of the sites, if not the only one,  that really changed the way online content is produced is certainly BuzzFeed. Where shall I start? So many firsts…The first to create unique content using the best from the web. The first to display their content and pics horizontally instead of the annoying galleries. The first to realize no one is clicking on advertising banners anymore and start a more creative, socially engaging way between users and brands. The first to combine politics with Grumpy Cat and do it so well. I can go on and on. Here is where I thought Buzzfeed could innovate as well…

The Today Show is like Apple. They got to the #1 spot and then became afraid to innovate in order to not lose their top position! Since most of the ideas I wrote in a previous post about the morning shows apply to the Today Show as well, here is a game idea for the 4th segment of the show. News Networks have started to loose the game a long time ago.  Technology has played quite an important role in terms of how people consume news these days and unfortunately the big players weren’t fast enough to follow and innovate.

People might feed their daily news crave through social media, but when a breaking news event happens they turn their TV on to watch the live picture and hear a reliable source. For that reason, News Networks need to focus on creating on a daily basis  “breaking news”  themselves.  Stories that will affect the viewers in their everyday lives, make them question things and situations and give them solutions. The Katie show has been running for almost a year now and has had some very good moments and some so so ones. As in every other show, the first season is usually a trial and error. It does take time to find out what show ideas fit best both the TV Host/Hostess and the audience.

As a TV Director + Ideas Specialist for a Daily, 3-hour live show targeted to women (For 4 years, I had to wake up super super early…Grrrr), I do have the feeling that if they do continue for a 2nd season (I hope so – there is so much trash out there that should be canceled instead!) they should go much bigger!

    Here is what I mean…
